AAHKS describes outpatient and early-discharge joint replacement as safe for selected patients when the team, the home setup, and the medical picture line up. Same-day discharge is a shared decision. Pain care is opioid-sparing, not opioid-free.
Medical picture and a coach at home
Stable heart and lungs. Diabetes under control. A person at home. A house that does not require a mountain. You will know before the day, not at 4 p.m. with a suitcase in your hand.

What is outpatient joint replacement?
Hip or knee replacement with discharge home the same day, when it is appropriate. AAHKS treats it as a selected-patient pathway, not a default.
Who goes home the same day after hip or knee replacement in Miami?
Selected patients whose medical picture, home support, and therapy plan line up. You will know before the day. An overnight stay can still be the safer plan.
Is same-day discharge guaranteed?
No. It is a shared decision. It is not a shortcut and not a promise.
Is outpatient joint replacement opioid-free?
No. Care is designed to reduce opioid use so you can walk early. Some people still need a short course of opioid medicine.
Do you offer outpatient hip and outpatient knee replacement?
The same-day pathway is discussed for selected hip and knee replacements, including some partial knees. The plan is set in clinic.
